GOLDEN POND PLANETARIUM

Under the Stars... and Planets!

The Golden Pond Planetarium offers a break from the outdoors with a focused look at the night sky and space science. Located next to the Golden Pond Visitor Center, it is an easy stop to pair with other attractions in the central part of LBL.

Inside the dome theater, visitors can watch guided star shows that highlight constellations, planets, and seasonal night sky features. Programs are led by knowledgeable presenters rather than pre-recorded narration, which keeps each show flexible and engaging.

In addition to astronomy, some programs explore broader science topics tied to space, time, and natural phenomena. The schedule changes throughout the year, so offerings can vary depending on the season and staffing.

Quick Facts

The planetarium is well suited for families, school groups, and anyone looking for an educational activity that does not require hiking or extended time outdoors. Shows are paced to be accessible without feeling watered down.

Because seating is limited, shows tend to feel more personal than large theater experiences. This makes it easier to ask questions and stay engaged throughout the presentation.

Plan your visit around scheduled showtimes rather than dropping in randomly. Most shows last under an hour, making it easy to fit into a half-day visit around Golden Pond.

There is an admission fee for planetarium shows, separate from general access to the Golden Pond Visitor Center. Tickets are typically purchased on site and are subject to availability.

The theater is indoors and climate-controlled, which makes it a good option during hot summer afternoons or rainy days. Seating is theater-style and may be dimly lit during shows.
