The Woodland's Nature Station:
The Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area offers an up-close look at native Kentucky wildlife in a peaceful, wooded setting. Visitors can explore scenic trails, meet rescued animals, and learn about the region’s ecosystems through hands-on exhibits and daily programs. It’s the perfect destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone wanting to unplug and experience the outdoors.
The Nature Station features a variety of wildlife ambassadors, from owls and foxes to deer, turtles, and playful otters. Interpretive staff are available throughout the day to share stories, answer questions, and guide guests through the habitats. Whether you’re here to learn, photograph wildlife, or simply enjoy the quiet of the woods, there’s something fascinating waiting around every corner.
In addition to the exhibits, visitors can enjoy short walking trails, seasonal wildflowers, and special events hosted throughout the year. Educational programs introduce guests to native species, conservation efforts, and the unique history of Land Between the Lakes. It’s an experience that blends adventure, learning, and relaxation in one beautiful space.
The Nature Station is family-friendly, pet-friendly outdoors, and open spring through fall with affordable admission. The Nature Station is open seasonally from March through November. Late April through fall is the best time to visit, when daily programs, special events, and animal encounters are in full swing.
